'Sick puppy' Tim Walz should never have been on Dems' 2024 ticket, Trump says https://ift.tt/LZT2z0U

President Donald Trump called Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz a "sick puppy" who should not have landed on the Democrats' 2024 presidential ticket.  "He's a sick puppy, that guy, that poor guy. I feel sorry for him," Trump said Thursday from the Oval Office while meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. "But, they made a bad choice with him." Trump's comments followed a reporter asking Trump about his relationship with Elon Musk after the former Department of Government Efficiency chief repeatedly assailed the "big beautiful bill," the sweeping legislation that will fund the Trump administration's agenda and touted by the president as key legislation that demands GOP unity for passage.  Musk was a key ally of Trump's during the campaign cycle, holding rallies in the top seven battleground states to rally support, including in Pennsylvania.  WALZ REVEALS THE MISSTEPS HE SAW WITH HARRIS CAMPAIGN AMID POSTMORTEM MEDIA BLITZ ...

Federal judge orders Trump to restore funding to Clinton-era agency gutted by DOGE https://ift.tt/2ZwJ0vA

A federal judge on Thursday ordered the Trump administration to restore millions of dollars in grant funding for AmeriCorps and to reemploy thousands of employees, ruling that the administration's abrupt dismantling of the organization violated federal law.  U.S. District Judge Deborah Boardman agreed to reinstate thousands of terminated AmeriCorps employees across 24 U.S. states and D.C., which sued the administration earlier this year over the steep cuts to the agency ordered by the Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE. She also ordered the Trump administration to restore hundreds of millions of dollars in congressionally approved funding for AmeriCorps programs, which were also slashed by DOGE earlier this year. Boardman sided with plaintiffs in ruling that the Trump administration likely violated administrative procedures by ordering the abrupt cancellations and terminations, without a proper notice or comment period.  SUPREME COURT RULES WISCONSIN UNCONSTITUT...

Speaker Johnson surprised by Musk's criticism of 'big, beautiful bill': He's 'flat wrong' https://ift.tt/R9gOCFY

House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., told reporters he was "surprised" by Elon Musk’s criticism of the "big, beautiful bill" after the two of them discussed the legislation.  While the speaker expressed confidence in the bill, he acknowledged that it took Congress "decades" to reach a point where the national debt has crept past $36.2 trillion and that it would take more than one bill to fix the situation. "The Trump administration needs four years to do all this reform, not two years. The Biden administration, Biden-Harris, made such a disaster of every metric of public policy, it's going to take us more than one bill to fix it all," Johnson said. Dem senator takes aim at Trump's viewpoint diversity policy, calls it 'micromanaging' colleges https://ift.tt/m68ClUo

Education Sec. Linda McMahon defended President Donald Trump's efforts to reform Harvard University during a Tuesday hearing on Capitol Hill. McMahon appeared before the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee and faced lengthy criticism from Sen. Chris Murphy, D-Conn., over the administration's actions against Harvard. Murphy began by arguing the Trump administration's instructions to Harvard were contradictory. "You told [Harvard] that they had to end all of their diversity programs, but then that they had to institute viewpoint diversity," Murphy said. "That doesn't make sense." TRUMP ADMIN ASKING FEDERAL AGENCIES TO CANCEL REMAINING HARVARD CONTRACTS "How do you tell them to end all their diversity programs…while instituting viewpoint diversity?" he asked. "No, the diversity programs we've asked and demanded to be eliminated were the DEI, where those programs were actually pitting one group against another," McMahon resp...

US can’t cut China off completely, but must defend AI and American innovation from nonstop theft: Sen Rounds https://ift.tt/jHdhF07

SIMI VALLEY, CALIFORNIA – China's rampant theft of intellectual property from American institutions and industry must be thwarted as the U.S. battles to remain the world's economic and military leader – but America cannot completely decouple from the economic behemoth, Republican South Dakota Sen. Mike Rounds told Fox News Digital in an exclusive interview. The key, according to Rounds, is maintaining China as a key trade partner without giving them access to America's technology, including artificial intelligence and computer chips. "In doing so, maybe we'll restrict their ability to actually be able to have a market that they can create their own stuff with. They'll be using ours. And in using ours, they'll be our standards," Rounds told Fox News Digital in an exclusive interview from the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library during the Reagan National Economic Forum on Friday in California.  "Let's not necessarily just totally divest. Let...

Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., said on Sunday that he would support President Donald Trump's "big, beautiful bill" if the debt ceiling hike was removed. Paul told CBS' "Face the Nation" host Margaret Brennan that he and three other Republican senators will hold out against the bill unless it is modified.  "I think there are four of us at this point, and I would be very surprised if the bill at least is not modified in a good direction," Paul said.  "I want the tax cuts to be permanent. But at the same time, I don't wanna raise the debt ceiling five trillion," he continued, adding, "The GOP will own the debt once they vote for this." SENATE REPUBLICANS EYE CHANGES TO TRUMP'S MEGABILL AFTER HOUSE WIN Trump on Saturday warned Paul would be "playing right into the hands of the Democrats" if he votes against the bill.
