Trump endorses former Green Beret, Army colonel in their bids to flip House seats from blue to red https://ift.tt/fjKLNtz

Former President Trump on Friday endorsed two Republican House candidates, both of whom served in the U.S. Army and are seeking to flip Democrat-held seats this fall. Trump's endorsements of Derrick Anderson, a former U.S. Army Special Forces Green Beret, and Laurie Buckhout, a former Army colonel, came one day after his debate against President Biden. In his endorsement of Anderson, the Republican nominee to represent Virginia's 7th Congressional District , Trump said, "He bravely fought for our Great Country as a Green Beret, and was deployed to Afghanistan, Bahrain, Jordan, Israel, and Lebanon. Unlike the current administration, he never left anyone behind! "Derrick is America First all the way, and he is running against a weak and pathetic Democrat named Yevgeny ‘Eugene’ Vindman who, along with Adam ‘Shifty’ Schiff and others, lied to push the Ukraine Impeachment Hoax, a continuation of the greatest and most dangerous Political WITCH HUNT in the History of ou...

Ohio Democratic House challenger urges party to 'pivot,' consider swing-state senator over Biden https://ift.tt/1lwNgEG

An Ohio Democrat seeking election to the U.S. House believes her party is in danger with President Biden at the top of the 2024 ticket and called on the party to pivot to a new candidate. The comments from Tamie Wilson, the Democrat challenging incumbent GOP Rep. Jim Jordan to represent Ohio's 4th Congressional District, came in a lengthy statement to Fox News Digital following Biden's debate performance against former President Trump Thursday. "As a candidate running against an extremist like Jim Jordan, the stakes couldn't be higher for the future of our country," Wilson said. "After watching the presidential debate, I was left with the same question that many of my constituents are asking me: Can the president defeat the MAGA agenda once again?" Wilson, seeking to represent a district that overwhelmingly backed former President Trump in previous elections, acknowledged the importance of "winning over independent voters," claiming it...

Dem lawmakers struggle to deal with fallout of Biden debate performance: 'Disappointment' https://ift.tt/nGqxfhw

Democrats were forced to grapple with a whirlwind of chaos on Capitol Hill Friday after many were left frustrated by President Biden's debate performance on Thursday night. "I think the emotions of the night were basically disappointment, anger, and then by the end it was panic," one House Democrat, granted anonymity to speak freely, told Fox News Digital. "Now, with that foundation, where do we go? Obviously, there are conversations that I believe need to be had at all levels, with the realization of, this is not just about the presidency, this is about down-ballot." Democratic lawmakers were skittish on Friday morning as groups of reporters fervently chased even normally low-profile members for comment on the debate. Several declined to speak with Fox News Digital about the match-up, even when offered anonymity. The top election officials of all 50 states were sent letters Monday encouraging them to seek from the Biden administration's Department of Homeland Security the information required to properly crosscheck state voter rolls and ensure noncitizens are not registered to vote in federal elections before November.  America First Legal (AFL) , a conservative nonprofit, said it sent a letter to the top election official of every state and a copy to every governor and state attorney general, advising them of "two critical tools" that exist under existing federal law "that Congress has provided to verify the citizenship status of individuals registered to vote in your State." The letters cite federal statues 8 U.S.C. § 1373 and 8 U.S.C. § 1644, specifically.  "These tools, codified in federal law for decades, allow you to submit requests for information to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) about an individual’s citizenship or immigration status for any l...

Sotomayor sees added 'burden' on same-sex couples in scathing dissent on SCOTUS immigration case https://ift.tt/BeIQtW9

Justice Sonia Sotomayor lashed out at her Supreme Court colleagues in a fiery dissent Friday, arguing the court's ruling in a spousal visa case will prove especially harmful for same-sex couples. "Same-sex couples may be forced to relocate to countries that do not recognize same-sex marriage, or even those that criminalize homosexuality," Sotomayor wrote in her dissent that was joined by Justices Elana Kagan and Ketanji Brown Jackson.  The opinion comes in the case of Sandra Muñoz, an American citizen who married a citizen of El Salvador who was denied an immigrant visa to the United States. Muñoz sued the State Department over the issue, alleging the government did not provide sufficient reason to deny her husband a visa. The State Department , meanwhile, argued that officials suspected the husband of being a member of the infamous MS-13 gang, citing tattoos the man has that seemingly signal affiliation with the gang. The couple has denied the accusation. DURBIN A...

GOP senator says Biden better 'pray' for presidential immunity over border policies https://ift.tt/RJI8XFq

Republican South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham said President Biden should "pray" for presidential immunity over his border policies that Graham said have opened the doors to violent illegal immigrants to carry out rapes and murders against Americans.  " Joe Biden better hope and pray there's presidential immunity, because when he allowed the killer of Laken Riley to be released on parole because [of] lack of capacity, I think he's subject not only to lawsuit, but criminal prosecution – if there's not presidential immunity," Graham said on "Fox News Sunday." Graham's comment came amid discussion about the Democratic Party's increased criticism of the Supreme Court, including Biden saying earlier this month that the "Supreme Court has never been as out of kilter as it is today," and the Senate possibly enforcing an ethics code on SCOTUS.  The Republican senator argued that Democrats are attacking the high court to protect B...

Campaign walks back Trump’s green card promise https://ift.tt/C0UYdKS

Former President Trump’s campaign walked back a promise that the former president would "automatically" award green cards to migrants after they graduate from college. "President Trump has made it clear that on day one of his new administration, he’s going to shut down the border and launch the largest mass deportation effort of illegal aliens in history," Trump campaign national press secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a statement last week, according to a New York Post report , noting that the former president would include an "aggressive vetting process" and "exclude all communists, radical Islamists, Hamas supporters, America haters and public charges." The comments come after Trump’s appearance on the "All-in Podcast" last week, where the former president outlined an idea to give all foreign college graduates a green card with their diploma.
