Kennedy Center promotes first explicitly pro-Christian feature in years as part of new ‘family-friendly’ focus https://ift.tt/YQvbZcd

The Kennedy Center is seeking to revamp its family-focused programming, including through offering more explicitly faith-based content that has often been left off the center's agenda. To kick off the new focus, the Kennedy Center will be holding a free family screening of the new Angel Studios animated movie "The King of Kings," which journeys through the life of Jesus from the viewpoint of a young boy who, throughout the movie, discovers the transformative power of faith. It is the first Jesus-centric show there since 2022.  The "King of Kings" screening, which will be held on Sunday, June 1, marks a shift to providing more pro-Christian content at the Kennedy Center.  According to the center, the only recent modern production that could be considered "Christian" was a 2022 showing of "Jesus Christ Superstar," a musical from the early 1970s that some critics (at least initially, such as the late Rev. Billy Graham) considered sacrilegiou...

Trump weighs in on SCOTUS birthright citizenship case: 'The dysfunction of America' https://ift.tt/YlxVh4I

President Donald Trump weighed in on the birthright citizenship case being argued in front of the Supreme Court Thursday, insisting the law originally was intended to benefit the descendants of slaves, not illegal immigrants.  "Birthright Citizenship was not meant for people taking vacations to become permanent Citizens of the United States of America, and bringing their families with them, all the time laughing at the ‘SUCKERS’ that we are!" Trump wrote in a post Thursday morning on his Truth Social platform as the arguments were being heard. "The United States of America is the only Country in the World that does this, for what reason, nobody knows – But the drug cartels love it!" Trump added that birthright citizenship, which was adopted as a constitutional amendment in 1868, was primarily intended to benefit the babies of slaves. SUPREME COURT TAKES ON BIRTHRIGHT CITIZENSHIP: JUSTICES APPEAR OPEN TO CONSERVING STATUS QUO "It had nothing to do with Il...

"I want you to have credibility and I want you to be taken seriously. Is this doctored or is it not?" Swalwell asked, referring to the photo that President Donald Trump shared on social media. Swalwell was asserting that the letters "M," "S" and the numbers "1" and "3" above the tattoos were edited onto the photo. Noem tried to respond, saying that the deportation of Abrego Garcia was based off an investigation, not a photo, but was interrupted by Swalwell. TRUMP'S REMARKS COULD COME BACK TO BITE...
