Cuban migrants fly hang glider into Florida airport only to be arrested after safe landing https://ift.tt/GHdMxFD

Two Cuban migrants took to the air to enter the U.S. illegally on Saturday as they used a powered hang glider to fly into an airport in Florida – before being taken into Border Patrol custody after touchdown, authorities said. Border Patrol agents in the Miami Sector nabbed the two migrants after they landed in the contraption at the Key West International Airport. Chief Patrol Agent Walter Slosar said there were no reported injuries in the incident and praised the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office for its assistance. The office said that the incident took place at approximately 10:30 a.m. ET on Saturday. The incident demonstrates the lengths to which some migrants will go to gain access to the United States. Migrants have used a variety of methods to cross the short distance, including small boats, to flee the communist regime in Cuba for decades. Minnesota advances 'trans refuge' bill opponents say would strip custody from non-consenting parents https://ift.tt/GHdMxFD

Minnesota lawmakers on Thursday advanced legislation that would establish the state as a "trans refuge" for children who are seeking transgender medical procedures but who may be denied "gender-affirming care" in other states. In a party-line 68-62 vote, the Minnesota House passed HF 146, which had been introduced by Rep. Leigh Finke of the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party. Finke is the state's first transgender lawmaker.  Democrats supporting the bill say the legislation will protect transgender people, their families and healthcare providers from facing legal repercussions for traveling to Minnesota to obtain cross-sex hormone prescriptions or sex-change procedures . Similar legislation has been introduced in California and other states with Democratic-controlled legislatures, which seek to counter Republican states that have sought to ban transgender procedures for minors.  "Gender-affirming care is lifesaving health care," Finke told reporters ahe...

GOP Rep. introduces bill cutting off money to countries who discriminate based on sexual orientation https://ift.tt/GHdMxFD

New York Republican Rep. George Santos introduced a bill Friday that would prevent the U.S. government from providing financial aid to any country that discriminates or takes legal action against its residents based on sexual orientation. Titled the "Equality and Fiscal Accountability Protection Act of 2023," the bill, according to Santos' office, would "require that countries receiving federal aid from the United States protect those based on sexual orientation and for other purposes." "Discrimination against both women and the LGBTQ community is unacceptable," Santos said in a statement about the legislation. "My bill will send a clear message that the United States will not offer federal aid to countries found to be violating the rights of individuals based on sexual orientation. We as a nation have a responsibility to stand up for the human rights of all people, regardless of race, religion, or sexual orientation." Under the bill, Sa...

Brad Little signed the bill after it was passed on March 20 by a veto-proof majority of the Idaho Legislature. IDAHO'S MOVE TO RESURRECT FIRING SQUAD 'MAKES SENSE' AS 'QUICKEST, SUREST' DEATH PENALTY OPTION, EXPERT SAYS Idaho is the fifth state in the country to legalize the practice, following Utah, Oklahoma, South Carolina, and Mississippi . Sixty Florida state troopers are being sent to Miami Beach to assist local authorities over the weekend as the beach town continues to cope with spring break tourists following two fatal shootings.  Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis ordered the deployment after two murders occurred last weekend in Miami Beach. Spring break has become a source of stress and anger for local officials and residents as violent crowds have resulted in killings, violent confrontations with police and other unruly behavior in recent years.  "Florida is a law-and-order state. As part of Governor DeSantis's priority to protect Floridians and keep our communities safe, FHP is ready and prepared to act," said Dave Kerner, director of Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles.  MIAMI BEACH SPRING BREAK SHOOTING LEAVES 1 DEAD, SENDS CROWD SCRAMBLING The troopers will patrol the streets and will "stay as long as needed and protect the residents of the greater Miami area, and we will have zero tolera...

Chinese 'spy balloon fiasco' requires full review of US air defenses, Daines says at Malmstrom AFB visit https://ift.tt/I3VhiHB

FIRST ON FOX : Sen. Steve Daines, R-Mont., introduced a bill Friday to require a full review of North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) capabilities after a Chinese spy balloon was allowed to enter U.S. airspace and traverse the continental United States before being shot down. In early February, a Chinese surveillance balloon lurking over the Big Sky State caught national attention after a resident detected the mysterious object. Despite various members of Congress calling on President Biden to shoot down the spy balloon, the Department of Defense allowed the object to float across the entire continental U.S. before it was taken down off the coast of South Carolina. While visiting with officials at the Malmstrom Air Force Base Friday, one of the sites the spy craft flew over during its flight across America, Daines announced proposed legislation that he anticipates will "expose any limitations that have been or have the potential to be exploited by fore...

Biden energy secretary defends praising China on climate change spending in fiery hearing exchange https://ift.tt/I3VhiHB

President Biden's secretary of energy had an intense back-and-forth during a House Appropriations Subcommittee meeting on Friday.  Department of Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm defended her previous comments praising China's environmental policy under interrogation by Chief Deputy Whip Guy Reschenthaler.  "Secretary, on March 10, 2023, you said, "We can all learn from what China is doing" — obviously about the environment," Reschenthaler said in the hearing. "At the time you made that comment, were you aware that 30 percent of the world’s CO2 emissions came from China?" ENERGY SECRETARY GRANHOLM CLAIMS US CAN 'LEARN FROM WHAT CHINA IS DOING' ON CLIMATE CHANGE "Oh, yes," Granholm answered. Granholm claimed earlier this month that Americans can "learn from what China is doing" in combating climate change. Matt Gaetz: Dems will move on guns by declaring firearm violence a public health emergency https://ift.tt/bpzLuxy

Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla. , warned Thursday that the next move by Democrats to regulate guns will be to declare that firearm violence is a public health emergency, which they’ll use as they used the COVID emergency to limit Americans’ freedom. At a House Judiciary subcommittee meeting on the "ATF’s Assault on the Second Amendment," Rep. Cori Bush, D-Mo. , argued that it’s time to declare a public health emergency to prevent gun violence. "In St. Louis and nationwide, gun violence is a public health emergency and commonsense regulations are a necessity," she said. PENNSYLVANIA MAN CONVICTED OF FIRST-DEGREE MURDER FOR USING HOMEMADE AIR GUN TO KILL NEIGHBOR "This country has more guns than people," she added. "There are approximately 400 million privately owned firearms in the United States, which has a population of 332 million. The U.S. is home to nearly half of the world’s civilian firearms." VP Biden’s office tried to quash Bloomberg story about Hunter Biden at his firm’s request, emails show https://ift.tt/naBmw1L

The office of then-Vice President Joe Biden tried to quash a Bloomberg News story about Hunter Biden at the younger Biden's firm's request, according to 2015 emails published Wednesday. Emails obtained by  America First Legal (AFL) through its ongoing lawsuit against the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA), showed a close relationship between the vice president's office, Hunter Biden's longtime business partner and the media. On Dec. 8, 2015, The New York Times ran an article saying the "credibility of the vice president’s anticorruption message may have been undermined" by Hunter’s serving on the board of Burisma Holdings with its owner, Mykola Zlochevsky. Later that day, Eric Schwerin, who was president of Hunter’s now-defunct investment firm Rosemont Seneca Partners at the time, asked the vice president’s then-communications director, Kate Bedingfield, whether there was any "follow up" by other news outlets on the Times articl...

Biden’s climate change ‘zealotry’ contributed to Silicon Valley Bank collapse, Republican AGs charge https://ift.tt/SFPXMr1

EXCLUSIVE – Sixteen Republican attorneys general on Tuesday accused the U.S. Treasury, Federal Reserve, FDIC and Comptroller of the Currency for contributing to the collapse of Silicon Valley Bank (SVB) by prioritizing President Biden’s climate agenda over sound banking practices. "To put it bluntly, the administration’s zealotry in fighting climate change by unwisely — and illegally — attempting to convert federal financial regulators into environmental activists is inextricably intertwined with these bank failures and the fallout from them," they wrote. "Your warping of the financial regulatory system undermines both the safe and sound operation of financial institutions and the public’s faith in the fairness and efficacy of the regulatory regime," they added. "We urge you to change course and refocus your efforts on managing actual financial risk." Utah Attorney General Sean Reyes and 15 of his colleagues sent a letter Tuesday to Treasury Secretary ...

EXCLUSIVE : Footage taken by Fox News this week shows how Customs and Border Protection (CBP) are releasing busloads of Chinese nationals into the U.S. interior, just as the border is seeing a 900% surge in encounters with migrants from the communist regime. Two busloads of migrants were released to a non-governmental organization in Brownsville, Texas. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) sources told Fox they are being released with Notices to Appear because there are so many crossing and no more space to house them. Migrants released with NTAs are given a court hearing for their immigration cases, which can take between four and seven years to resolve.  Officials say the Rio Grande Valley Sector — one of the busiest sectors along the border — has seen a more than 900% increase in Chinese nationals over the same time last year. Federal judge delivers blow to Biden's climate agenda: 'Destructive federal overreach' https://ift.tt/guNWXIr

A federal judge blocked the Biden administration from implementing environmental regulations redefining how water sources are protected, but which opponents have argued were an example of overreach. In his decision published late Sunday, Judge Jeffrey Brown ruled that the so-called Waters of the United States (WOTUS) rule announced by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in late December "poses irreparable harm" to residents of Texas and Idaho, the two states that challenged the regulations in the lawsuit filed on Jan. 18. Brown declined to issue a nationwide injunction, but noted 25 other states have challenged the rule in two separate ongoing lawsuits. While I continue to battle the rule in court, this preliminary injunction is a major blow to the Biden Administration’s radical environmental agenda," Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton said in a statement Monday. "The unlawful rule would have saddled Texans across the state with crushing new regulations, sl...
